Nature’s playground awaits – Sail in beautiful Knysna on a luxury catamaran.
We invite you to a magical escape on the Knysna lagoon with the Ocean Sailing Family, an unrivaled experience in nature. Our luxury catamarans navigate the iconic Knysna Heads and sail into the Indian Ocean. The Knysna lagoon and coastline has an abundance of interesting bird and marine life, breath-taking views and exhilarating adventure. Being joined by a pod of dolphins, or a friendly seal is an experience which you’ll remember long after the journey has ended.
The longer cruises allow for time to anchor in the picturesque Featherbed Bay for a swim. For those that prefer to stay in the calmer waters of the Knysna Lagoon, Bella Vita provides the perfect platform to enjoy your surroundings in lounge-like style and comfort. Our private cruises allow for tailor made experiences, include live music, a braai onboard, or you can even hire your very own private chef. Our spacious Catamarans offer the perfect venue for a corporate function, birthday party, year-end function, photoshoot, marriage proposal, or any other special occasion you may have. Speak to our crew to customize a cruise to your liking. Our vessels take a maximum of 12 guests each, offering a feeling of your very own private yacht. Ocean Sailing Charters

Our thoughts
My wife and I joined Ocean Sailing Charters on their Sunset Cruise aboard Ocean Rhythm on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in July. The sun was out and there was a light warm breeze blowing, hard to believe it was July. When we arrived at the jetty on Thesen Island the group from the previous cruise was busy disembarking, there was a buzz amongst them and their faces spoke of the pleasure and enjoyment and it was clear they wouldn’t mind lingering longer. We were quite excited.
From the moment you step onto the jetty we were made to feel at home by Jordan, our deckhand, while finalizing the formalities before you board. The indemnity process is quick and easy and completed on your smart phone in a minute or two and your shoes are checked in for the trip as they could leave marks on the deck. Once you board you are treated with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. Admittedly I know very little about wine but Luana said that it was quite a nice sparkling wine!
The catamaran disembarks as we made ourselves comfortable on one of the trampolines and we were on our way to the heads accompanied by Larabella, their flagship catamaran. Music setting the atmosphere on the deck while we sip at our drinks and take in the views. There was a bit of swell in the heads as the tide was coming in but the experience and confidence of the crew was evident as the skipper, OJ, cruised through the heads. Jordan handed each of us our life fests for the passage through the heads and in no time we were out on the open ocean and graced by the amazing view of the Knysna Heads from the outside, I wonder how many vesels has passed through here in the last 200 plus years and saw this same view.
The golden glow of the setting sun over the ocean is breath taking. We turn back towards the heads and heads back into the lagoon cruising past the old Tapas Jetty on Thesen Island, past the Knysna Yacht Club and turn into the Knysna Quys. This was quite unexpected and quite a nice addition to the trip being able to see the waterfront from this perspective and by now the sun was just going over the horizon and the views over the glass like lagoon was immaculate. We pass Bella Vita, their stylish lagoon cruiser, on our way back to jetty on Thesen Island, back to reality. I’t a cold and rainy day as I write this, reminiscing of the trip. This cruise is definitely a must when visiting Knysna.
