This thatched roof wood cabin is a lovely place to sit and watch the birds go about their daily routines. Some of the birds come right up to the hide and even go underneath. There are three viewing windows with benches to sit on. Two people can sit on a bench and look out the viewing window.
Distance: A short 150m walk along a wooden boardwalk from the parking to the hut.

Directions: The Malachite Bird Hide is situated on the Bo-Langvlei Road which can be accessed via a couple of other roads from Wilderness to Sedgefield.
If you are travelling from Wilderness side, take the Hoekwil Road just outside Wilderness, follow this for 2.4km and turn into the Bo-Langvlei Road. The hide parking will be 5km down the road on your right. Alternatively take the “Die Vleie Road” across from the Kleinkranz turnoff, follow this road for 1.9km and the turn right into the Bo-Langvlei Road. The hide parking will be 2.6km down the road on your right.
If you are travelling from Sedgefield take the Swartvlei turnoff and follow this road for 6.3km passing between Langvlei and Rondevlei. Turn left at the T-junction. The hide parking will be 1.6km down the road on your left.
